Founded in 1970, Lake Catholic High School is a coeducational comprehensive high school with a college preparatory emphasis. Lake Catholic is committed to educating young men and women of diverse means and abilities throughout Northeast Ohio. With a population of roughly 500 students in grades nine through twelve, Lake Catholic High School emphasizes spiritual growth in the Catholic Faith as students learn, work, and serve.

Essential Job Functions

  • As a member of the school faculty, the social studies Instructor will be responsible for teaching 9th-12th grade history classes as assigned by the principal.
  • Implement the curriculum in accordance with the standards set forth by the Diocese of Cleveland and the Ohio Department of Education.
  • Foster a stimulating and inclusive classroom environment conducive to learning and critical thinking.
  • Utilize various teaching methodologies to accommodate diverse learning styles.
  • Collaborate with colleagues to develop interdisciplinary approaches to teaching history.
  • Participate in school events, faculty meetings, and other events throughout the year.
  • Maintain a safe and effective learning environment.
  • Provide outstanding and engaging instruction to students.
  • Monitor students and complete other school-related responsibilities as assigned by the principal.
  • Maintain accurate records and effectively communicate progress with students, parents, and school administrators.

Qualifications 

  • Qualified candidates will be practicing Catholics with a good understanding of the Catholic faith and a strong commitment to Church teachings who have a strong interest in educating young people about the history and practices of the Catholic Church.
  • Bachelor’s degree or higher (Master’s preferred but not required).
  • Teaching Certification through the Ohio Department of Education
  • Strong commitment to the mission of the Diocese of Cleveland and the Catholic Church.
  • Prior experience teaching similarly aged students is preferred, but not required.
  • All candidates must either hold a current Ohio teaching license or have a minimum of a bachelor’s degree and a willingness to obtain the required teaching certification.
  • Candidates must also be able to pass FBI and BCI background checks and complete the Diocese of Cleveland VIRTUS program.

  • Have considerable knowledge of Catholic theology and a passion for teaching young people.
  • Develop and implement the curriculum in accordance with the standards set forth by the Diocese of Cleveland and the Ohio Department of Education.
  • Maintain a safe and effective learning environment.
  • Provide outstanding and engaging instruction to students.
  • Monitor students and complete other school-related responsibilities as assigned by the principal.
  • Maintain accurate records and effectively communicate progress with students, parents, and school administrators.
